 The Westside Foundation Inc. proudly partnered with Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Woman’s Hospital, and Supreme Chevrolet to host the “Prevention on the Go” community health initiative during Achievement Week, offering free breast, prostate, and colorectal cancer screenings at Butcher Boy Grocery in Plaquemine, Louisiana. This collaborative effort successfully provided 30 mammograms, 4 prostate screenings, and 7 colorectal exams, delivering lifesaving early-detection opportunities and essential health education to community members who may not otherwise have had access to preventive care. From planning through execution, Westside Foundation Inc. members, led by Member Gardner, worked diligently to promote, organize, and support the event by greeting attendees, assisting with registration, and guiding participants through each screening station, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. This initiative reflects the Foundation’s continued commitment to community wellness, meaningful partnerships, and service-driven impact, demonstrating how unified efforts can strengthen community health, awareness, and hope. 

Westside Foundation Inc. proudly partnered with Our Brother’s Keeper to host a clothing drive in support of women and children in the Plaquemine community, reaffirming the Foundation’s commitment to uplifting and empowering local families by providing essential resources that promote comfort, confidence, and dignity. Over several weeks, Westside Foundation Inc. members organized and promoted the initiative throughout Plaquemine and surrounding areas, collecting gently used and new clothing items—including school uniforms, jackets, shoes, everyday children’s wear, and professional attire for women—while ensuring all donations met quality standards. Upon completion of the collection phase, members sorted, packed, and transported the donations to Our Brother’s Keeper, which will coordinate a future distribution event to ensure the items reach families most in need. Through teamwork, servant leadership, and strong community partnerships, hundreds of clothing items were collected, strengthening local relationships and demonstrating Westside Foundation Inc.’s ongoing dedication to meaningful service, compassion, and positive community impact.
